Appraisals

Onsite Appraisal

All appraisals will performed at the client's home or business using the evaluation process recommended by the American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI) and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPUP). Appraisals are expert opinions made at the time of appraisal by researching current markets and auction results. The value of most firearms are fairly stable over time, but trends in the market may affect values of certain firearms if they become more desirable to collectors. A confidential appraisal report including photographs, handwritten originals, and a copy on electronic media will be prepared and provided to the client. This electronic copy will be archived on a secure hard drive for minimum of one year at Tirico Gunsmithing LLC. Payment is due when the appraisal report is given to the Client.

Unloading Fee During Appraisal: $20 per firearm

Clients will be charged an unloading fee for all loaded firearms, unless the Client informs Tirico Gunsmithing LLC that the firearm is “jammed” or otherwise unable to be unloaded. If desired by the Client, the firearm will be repaired at normal gunsmithing rates.

Appraisal of Common “Shooter” Firearms: $50 per firearm

The firearm will be photographed then checked for functionality and condition. Depending on client’s needs, an appraisal for Fair Market Value, Replacement Cost for insurance purposes or Liquidation Value will be determined.

Appraisal of Unusual “Collector” Firearms: $50 per hour, not to exceed $200 without authorization of Client

The firearm will be photographed then assessed for functionality and condition. Depending on client’s needs, an appraisal for Fair Market Value, Replacement Cost for insurance purposes or Liquidation Value will be determined. Additional research will normally be required to provide an accurate evaluation for rare firearms.

Request Factory Letter: Actual Cost

A "Factory Letter" from the manufacturer or firearms museum usually provides date of manufacture and shipping address. It may also provide a collector firearm’s original caliber, finish, and special features as shipped. This will help determine the firearm’s current originality and collectability. A factory letter will be requested if desired by the Client.

Field Strip, Clean, and Lubricate During Appraisal: $30 per firearm

A dry patch will normally be pulled through the bore during appraisal. If Client desires, the firearm will be field stripped, cleaned, inspected, lubricated, then reassembled.

“Collector” Firearm Clean and Lubrication During Appraisal: $20 per firearm

Collectible firearms can be fragile and normally will not be disassembled. If desired by the Client, metal and wood surfaces can be lightly oiled or waxed to protect them without removing finishes or stains.

Mileage for Appraisals and Pick-up/Delivery : $0.60 per mile

Mileage will be charged at current IRS business rate plus 4%. Typical round trip to Bend is approximately $38 and $17 for Redmond.
